Why Wing Chun training?
In short, because the value of Wing Chun is worth it!
You can gain:
In regards to mental benefits, Wing Chun training includes myriad concepts and principles that demand the engagement of the mind. From the core tenet of the system - Centerline theory - to other ideas such as the theory of bone alignment and the foundational support for complex attack, the art challenges its practitioners to become analytical.
When physical benefits are explored, a positive impact is evident in the art and in life. In the art, practitioners develop agility (via footwork), balance, coordination, flow, speed, and power, to name but a few. In life, individuals enjoy improved health via movement.
With respect to spiritual benefits, positive influences are assured in one way and possible in another. The mettle of practitioners is especially tested during the early stages of training, when many of the drills wreak havoc on the forearms. On another level, practitioners may seek to develop an understanding of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism.
While these are all things that you can gain from Wing Chun training, I want to focus here on how Wing Chun training helps me accomplish my "WHY," which is to liven and lengthen the lifespans and "healthspans" of my community members.
Why Wing Chun training?
It has the ability to liven your life through adventure, brotherhood, and purpose.
How’s traveling to Hong Kong for adventure?
Plenty of Wing Chun enthusiasts have done just that.
What prompted their spirit of adventure?
Wing Chun.
While I haven't made it to Hong Kong for Wing Chun, I have visited Bruce and Brandon Lee's gravesites in Seattle, Washington.
I also visited Bruce's former student, James Demile, in 1998.
I have met brothers-from-other-mothers thanks to Wing Chun.
Students of mine have met brothers thanks to Wing Chun.
Training in Wing Chun is a surefire way to become part of a family.
Wing Chun training can provide a sense of meaning. It can also provide an aim or a goal.
Whether your purpose is self-development, progression in the art, or becoming a torch-bearer, Wing Chun can answer the call.
As a discipline of study that can inspire adventure, foster brotherhood, and create purpose, Wing Chun can certainly liven your life.

Why Wing Chun training?
It has the capacity to lengthen your life through physical activity, purpose, and stress management.
As learned earlier, as a form of movement and methodical physical exercise, Wing Chun can positively contribute to your health, which can, in turn, contribute to longevity.
Purpose may be created by training. This purpose may provide a reason to continue living, as the mission is not yet complete.
Stress produces a chemical response in the body. This response is designed to prepare the body for fight or flight. If no fight or flight occurs, the chemical products of the stress response linger in the body. These lingering by-products will produce negative consequences.
Like fight or flight, Wing Chun training is movement and, as such, will use up the by-products of the stress response.
Movement is a terrific stress management tool.
